University of Cumbria organises holiday arts festival
Now into its fourth year, the Carlisle Arts Festival takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend - from Friday 23 May to Monday 26 May in a variety of venues in and around Carlisle, including Tullie House, The Tithe Barn and the SourceCafé.
Organised by staff and students at the University of Cumbria it brings together a
host of art events over the weekend including poetry, theatre, dance, exhibitions, interviews, workshops and films.
The full programme is listed on the festival's website, and details of just a few of the events which may appeal to writers are included below.
The majority of events of free, and people are invited to hop from one event to the next in order to appreciate the diversity of art taking place. The organisers hope that this year's festival will build on the audiences of recent years and provide a strong case for Carlisle having its own purpose built arts centre.
Full details can be found on the festival website www.carlisle-arts-festival.co.uk
