Smoothie lined up for awards

ONE of the country's top businessmen will be the guest speaker at next week's Excellence in Cumbria Awards ceremony.

Richard Reed, co-founder of innocent drinks, the UK's fastest-growing food and drinks company and the number one smoothies brand nationally.

Started in 1999 by Richard and two friends, the company now sells more than two million smoothies a week in the UK, Ireland and continental Europe.

He will address an invited audience at the awards evening, due to be held at Center Parcs, near Penrith, next Friday, May 9.

Rob Johnston, chief executive of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce & Industry - which now organises the awards - said he was delighted such a well-known and motivational speaker would be addressing the ceremony.
